There are so many causes of acne, including hormonal changes, genetics, and stress. Most people affected by acne are aged between 12 and 25.
Symptoms of acne.

The main symptoms of acne are whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules and sometimes cysts. The two most common types of acne are whiteheads and blackheads. Acne is skin lesions caused by the blockage of follicle ducts of sebum glands. These are: Bad cosmetics, hormones and birth control pills. High humidity and sweat are also some of the main causes of acne. However, it could just be that you over-producing sebum which in turn, blocks your pores. It’s not known what causes the increased production of sebum. Who among us has not looked in the mirror and seen the blemish we were sure would ruin our day, if not our life? Three out of four teenagers have some acne, and some adults continue to have acne into their twenties, thirties and forties.

When hair follicles in the skin become plugged with a combination of sebum or fat and cellular material, a pimple results. In teenagers, acne is linked to hormonal activity and often occurs on the face, back, chest and upper arms. Adult acne shows up mainly on the face. An especially problematic form of adult acne, called rosacea, affects the skin of the nose, forehead, and cheeks. Acne rosacea usually responds well to medical treatment.

The good news is: acne eventually goes away. The bad news is: it doesn’t go away overnight. A regular skin care regimen, perhaps combined with prescription medicine recommended by a health care provider, can help avoid outbreaks and potential; scarring.

A primary care doctor or other provider may recommend a topical medicine, oral antibiotics, or both. Lotions, creams, or gels containing vitamin A acid, tretinoin – commonly called Retin-A, help stop pimples from forming by preventing dead skin cells fro sticking to the wall of the hair follicle. Antibiotics work by keeping bacteria from forming and reducing inflammation. Severe cases of acne can be treated with a pill containing vitamin A called isotretinoin or Accutane. Accutane does have side effects, however, and cannot be taken by pregnant women.

The aftereffect of acne – scarring – also can be treated by a doctor, although it is quite costly. Collagen may be injected into scars to “fill them up”. This treatment is expensive and temporary, lasting only 4 to 6 months. Surgery involving skin grafts is an option for deeper scars.

Although acne is not life threatening, it effects on self-esteem and self-confidence should not be downplayed. Now before you should know the most common all-important home care for acne, you should also know how acne develops.

Whiteheads form when pores become clogged with oily secretions and hair follicles break down. Blackheads form when the clogged pore is invaded by bacteria and pus. Blackheads should not be squeezed because this can cause further spreading of the bacteria. Acne or pimples form when the hair follicle walls rupture. Acne can then spread. Squeezing the pimple can cause the infection to spread further. Now here are the most common and effective home remedies to treat acne:

1. Wash your face once or twice daily with the cleanser of your choice.
2. Use an “acne” cream or lotion. Start with over-the-counter lotions that contain benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid as the main ingredient.
3. Use a moisturizer labeled noncomedogenic. This has been tested and found not to cause pimples.
4. Don’t open your pimples unless your health care provider has given you instructions on how to do it correctly.

A friend, who was suffering from acute acne and was keeping absent from the classes, asked me the other day, “Does drinking water get rid of acne?” She told me that she is drinking a lot of water these days and was hopeful about getting a relief soon. My answer made her happy and gave her some hope. I told her that drinking a lot of water may help gradually improve the situation and may give relief from acne and related inflammation, although it is not the exact cure for acne. In fact, there is not absolute cure for it at all.

Then how does drinking water get rid of acne? We all know importance of water in the body. Out of the innumerable essential roles it plays in the body, here are few which concern acne and help get rid of it. Water is a natural detoxifier and is the most effective one. It helps remove toxins from the body. These toxins include certain hormones which trigger acne by increasing sebum production from the sebaceous glands present just below the skin. The actual function of this sebum is to keep the skin moist and prevent its cracking. But the problem occurs when the mouth of these glands, opening in skin pores, are blocked with dust and dead skin mixed with sebum.

The sebum cannot escape gets accumulated below the skin, causing red, painful and inflammatory heads called acne. Situation is aggravated when acne gets infected by bacteria. Sebum production is otherwise natural and normal but is increased in teens due to these hormones. Water takes these hormones away from body with urine and sweat. The more you drink water, the more you urinate and sweat more toxins are removed from the body. Water promotes perspiration which opens the mouth of these sebaceous glands as well as helps remove the blockages thereby helping cure acne again. Some fats are also lost with urine, promoting the healing further. Water also helps clear bowels which indirectly gives relief from acne.

If somebody asks you now, “Does drinking water get rid of acne?” Answer with full confidence, “Yes! It does help.”

Any skin disorder that is very apparent can prove extremely embarrassing and a trying experience for the sufferer. Everyone who is prone to develop acne would love to know a dozen effective ways to prevent it in the first place. Who would not want to save face and another month or longer worth of painful self-consciousness? I have listed a number of practical ways to
prevent another acne breakout from embarrassing you, and if despite your honest efforts acne still rears its ugly head, I also suggested a few effective steps for treating acne, naturally.

Acne Prevention Tips

Use a honey mask on a weekly basis. Honey is considered as a disinfectant and a great way for healing pimples. It can also kill bacteria found in your skin.

Cut your hair short if it’s long. Hair has oil. When you are moving, dust particles often culminate in your hair, and as your hair touches your face, neck, or forehead, it can provoke acne or worsen an affected area.

Take a powerful multi-vitamin twice every day; the biggest organ–your skin–requires proper nutrients to stay healthy.

Take vitamin A daily. It both protects your skin and prevents acne. Plus, vitamin A reduces sebum production.

Avoid over washing and rubbing or scrubbing your skin excessively. Acne is not caused by not washing or by having dirty skin.

Some people, especially students, have claimed that their acne grows worse when experiencing stressful situations. Advise: if it’s in your power, cut down on stress.

Drink 8 glasses of water everyday. Water helps to clean and hydrate the skin.

Avoid alcohol-based creams and lotions.

Either change or wash your pillowcase everyday.

Eat food rich in zinc. A deficiency in zinc may cause acne breakouts.

Add a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables to your daily diet.

When you are undergoing much stress, breathe deeply. It has been discovered that there exists a direct connection between acne and stress.

Exercise regularly, for it helps your blood to circulate and to remove toxins.

Eat a well-balanced diet to reduce the reoccurrence of acne.

Choose your cosmetics very carefully. Sometimes what you wear to disguise acne can actually turn out to be the root cause of a skin disorder.

Acne Home Remedy Tips

Put ripe tomato pulp on your pimples, and keep them there for as long as one hour. Next, wash the treated areas.

Apply the juice of raw papaya on your swelling pimples.

On and around your pimples apply fresh garlic. Pimples will fade away when this treatment is used regularly, not leaving a mark.

Drink wheatgrass juice; it can remove acne.

Create a paste from orange peel by grinding the peel in water. Then, apply this paste on and around your pimples.

I think I have an obsession with oatmeal – I eat it everyday for breakfast! Not only that I can combine it with my skin care regime and use it as part of my home remedies for acne.

If you’ve never experimented with oatmeal for your acne here are just some of the benefits.

First of all, it’s a great exfoliant for your skin and we all know how important it is to wash away those dead skin cells and impurities to stop our pores getting clogged. It’s great for sensitive skin because its effective enough as a natural exfoliant but it’s not too harsh that it will damage or aggravate your skin. This is good news for those with sensitive skin because it doesn’t take a lot for a break out to occur.

Oatmeal solutions are also good home remedies for acne because oatmeal is an astringent which helps to draw out oil and impurities from the pores and keep your skin clean and blemish free.

As well as being an effective exfoliant, oatmeal can also be combined with other natural products to make your very own acne clearing face mask.

Just remember to give it a few weeks to see if its helping clear your acne. If you don’t see much improvement then you can just stop using it and move on to something else.

Oatmeal is definitely worthwhile experimenting with if you are looking for home remedies for acne. It’s a cheap, natural and a very effective exfoliant and even a great ingredient to a homemade face mask.

When you look for tips for curing acne, it is likely that you may have not looked in your very own household. It may seem silly, but there really are plenty of ways to clear up annoying acne that can be found right now in your home. In fact, your kitchen and bathroom are virtually stocked with acne remedies that you never even thought about before! Let’s take a little trip through the many household items that can be used for curing acne effectively.

First, let’s start in the kitchen, where you probably have many more natural acne remedies than you had ever imagined. First of all, you can take some of the tomatoes that you have and crush them, making a pulp. This pulp can then be applied to your face, especially the areas where you are having trouble with pimples. The effect will be a minimization (and eventually, the disappearance) of your pimples.

Other types of things in your kitchen are a variety of juices that can be applied to your skin, such as lime juice or papaya juice. Along with the tomato pulp that we discussed earlier, these juices should be applied for about a half an hour for maximum effect.

If you’re not of the vampire variety, you can also slice a piece of garlic and rub the sliced garlic right up against any troublesome pimples for a little while. This also will have a minimizing effect on pimples, as well as helping to work toward their elimination.

The bathroom is our last stop in the household acne removal tour. The most unknown substance from the bathroom that has great properties for fighting acne is toothpaste. Yes, apply some toothpaste to any pimples for a few minutes to work towards removing them.

Curing acne is all about using anything that you can find to fight it with. When you can find a ton of things in your kitchen or bathroom that can be used to fight acne breakouts naturally, you really need to take advantage of them!

The person who suggested eating apples for three days to get rid of acne sounds like an astrologer who suggested that wearing a stone for three days will get you a lottery prize. Had it been that easy, acne would not have been a cause of headache for millions of teens around the world. But it is not totally absurd either. Eating apples will certainly help get some relief from acne with a proper diet. The old proverb “An apple a day keeps the doctor away!” was not in vague. This can be true for any other fruit as well. We shall see now how can apples (here we shall refer to apples only, although any other fruit will do fine as well) help give you relief from acne. Its not just eating apples that will get rid of your acne, its the combination of apples with other foods that will do the trick.

Let us check the facts behind this suggestion for eating apples for three days to get rid of acne. Apples are particularly rich in fiber, apart from having vitamins and minerals. This fiber is what plays an important role in giving relief from acne. Acne owes its cause primarily to hormonal changes in the body during teens and then to constipation. People who suffer from chronic constipation have been seen to have acne, even when they are much older. I know this may seem odd, but theres a connection here actually.

Let us take a closer look at what hormones and constipation have to do with acne. During teens, certain hormones become active in the body, the excess of which are removed from the body along with some toxins through openings of the sebaceous glands. Excretion is meant for removal of waste and unwanted substances from the body. When it is obstructed during constipation, these toxins start accumulating in the body and erupt in the form of acne. Eating food rich in fiber helps ease constipation and clear bowels and thereby help proper removal of toxins from the body. Apples, being rich in fiber, can do this for you. This takes some time of but eating apples for three days to get rid of acne, is an exaggerated stuff.
